Karen Gilbert is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and attended Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in a combined MD-PhD program in Human Genetics. She left this program upon realization that her passion for science and medicine needed to be closer to patients than lab-bench research would allow. She worked within the field of organ and tissue donation for 5 years, an experience that left her with a profound appreciation for the gift of life. As happens to so many of us, she stumbled into clinical research by answering an ad for a medical device manufacturer. After a few months, Karen recognized that clinical research would become her final career. Over fourteen years later, Karen remains dedicated to the ongoing pursuit of ethically conducted, on time, and high-quality clinical trials. Having held various assignments throughout the industry, including medical devices, regulatory affairs, site management, global study management, and clinical monitoring, she sees quality training and education as the foundation of all that we do.
