Catheter and Tube Placement - Sponsored by Abbott Animal Health and Mississippi State University
(

)
Often procedures that are not performed on a daily basis in general practice become services that are referred. Join two top notch clinicians from the University of Mississippi College of Veterinary Medicine as they perform and describe for you various procedures including: central vein catheterization of the jugular and medial saphenous vein, chest tube placement and the use of endotracheal tubes in performing tracheal wash.

Pediatric Spay/Neuter – Live Demonstration & Presentation - Sponsored by PETSMART Charities (

)
In large parts of the U.S., live release rates from shelters are still relatively poor and the pet overpopulation issue remains acute. Many private veterinarians contribute to the solution by providing pre-adoption medical services for shelters and rescue organizations. A key element is performing sterilization on puppies and kittens; sterilizing owned pets at less than six months of age is also a best practice to avoid accidental litters and is endorsed by AAHA. In this session, appropriate pediatric spay/neuter techniques (surgery and anesthesia) to ensure patient safety will be demonstrated and related medical considerations will be discussed.

TPLO: What to Expect From Your Referral - Sponsored by AAHA MARKETLink, MWI and Securos (

)
This live, video-link orthopedic session will overview a case-based tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO). Perioperative management will be discussed in detail including anesthetic management, pain management and postoperative care. The goal of the session is to provide an overview of the TPLO technique with a primary focus on aseptic surgical technique and surgical anatomy. Attendees will obtain a brief overview of the TPLO concept. An in-depth understanding of the TPLO technique should not be anticipated.

Sample Collection Procedures - Sponsored by Abbott Animal Health and Mississippi State University (

)
Many procedures are considered to be "specialist level" and patients are referred for testing. Join Drs. Thomason and Mackin as they perform and explain collection procedures for bone marrow and joint fluid. They will discuss techniques, sites, collection and sample handling making it possible for any veterinarian to master.
