Candy has held progressively more responsible ambulatory care nursing positions, including nurse practitioner, nurse manager, assistant director and director of nursing. Currently, she is the Director of Nursing for Ambulatory Care at the University of Michigan Health System. She has been certified in Ambulatory Care Nursing since 1999, with the first exam. Candy has been active in nursing organizations, including the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau, Great Lakes Ambulatory Nursing Networking Group and the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN), including many leadership positions. She is a past -board member and past-president of AAACN and helped in the development of the Certification Review Course and other AAACN materials. She served as the editor of the Core Curriculum for Ambulatory Care Nursing, 2nd Edition, and the Ambulatory Care Nursing Review Questions booklet.
