Kathy Mertens, MN, MPH, RN

Kathy Mertens serves as an assistant administrator and director of ambulatory care nursing at UW Medicine-Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA. In this role Kathy focuses on developing population health approaches, enhancing ambulatory care and patient-centered medical home practices, and optimizing the role of ambulatory nurses as care and transition managers. Recently Kathy was co-author on the teamwork and collaboration chapter of the Care Coordination and Transition Management (CCTM) Core Curriculum. Kathy received her master’s in nursing and in public health from the University of Washington. She has been an AAACN member since 2001 and was recently elected as an incoming member of the AAACN Board of Directors. She has served as chair of the Leadership Special Interest Group and a member of the 2015 Program Planning Committee. In 2014 Kathy was the recipient of the AAACN “Above and Beyond" Award.
