Kathy Mertens, MN, MPH, RN

Kathy Mertens is the 2012-2013 Leadership SIG Chair. She is the Director of Clinical Care Systems at UW Medicine - Harborview Medical Center. Kathy provides leadership for ambulatory nursing, quality of care, and medical center employee health. Kathy’s professional career includes broad experience in ambulatory clinical practice, public health, health care administration, and quality improvement. She has presented locally and nationally on ambulatory nursing practice, chronic care, quality improvement, and patient-centered medical home. She has co-authored publications on colorectal cancer screening, patient centered measurement, and self- management support via web-based records. Kathy received her BSN at the University of Wisconsin and her Master’s in Nursing and in Public Health from the University of Washington.
