This session discusses succession planning for nursing and how to optimize nursing skill sets as nurses plan strategies for retirement or changing roles in nursing.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss the demographics of health care providers/nurses and the increased need for nurses as the group retires.
  • Review the concept of succession planning including goals and objectives.
  • List various strategies to optimize the skill sets of nurses leaving the ambulatory care environment or those wishing to continue nursing but in a different milieu.
